Vinted Shoppers Express Frustration About Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
